A complete cast iron probable shot or cannon ball dating from the post-medieval period, about AD 1500-1700. It is a sphere of iron, with a slightly pitted and corroded surface, dark brown in colour. It is 39.5mm diameter (1,5 inches) and has a mass of 235g (eight and a quarter ounces). It may have been intended for use in a Serpentine cannon which had a nominal bore size of 1.5 inch diameter, firing shot weighing 0.75 lb, or a Rabinet cannon which fired shot weighing 8oz. A Post-Medieval gold signet (or seal) finger-ring, dating to the late 16th to 17th century AD. The bezel is oval in shape with a sub-rectangular cross-section. The external surface of the bezel measures 15.8mm x a width of 13.4mm. Approximately 0.5mm in from the edge is a beaded border formed of closely set short lines. A thin and shallow incised line runs around the inner side of the beaded border. At the centre of the bezel is a coat of arms on a flat-topped shield.
