A complete cast iron probable shot or cannon ball dating from the post-medieval period, about AD 1500-1700. It is a sphere of iron, with a slightly pitted and corroded surface, dark brown in colour. It is 39.5mm diameter (1,5 inches) and has a mass of 235g (eight and a quarter ounces). It may have been intended for use in a Serpentine cannon which had a nominal bore size of 1.5 inch diameter, firing shot weighing 0.75 lb, or a Rabinet cannon which fired shot weighing 8oz.
