Copper alloy sword fragment. Cast fragment of a long narrow leaf-shaped blade, from towards its tip. A flattened rhomboid section at the narrower end of the fragment is rendered lentoid at the wider end by the rubbing down in antiquity of the aris between the sides of the blade on both its sides. Copper alloy possible scabbard chape fragment. A cast sub-triangular plate with the relict of one of a probable pair of spurs at its wider end, which is bevelled, and possibly broken along its other edges. Plain borders, slightly raised, appear along one side and across the wider end of the object, and these enclose a curvilinear element of moulded decoration. From its form, this might alternatively be part of a stirrup mount; a reddish tint is often characteristic of Anglo-Scandinavian metalwork. Copper alloy button. Cast discoid plano-convex button with the stub of a separate inserted copper alloy drawn wire loop in the back. The front bears an incised triangular motif embellished with groups of short incised lines. The flat back either retains white metal plating or evidences a high tin content, the front has a more yellow cast with its cuprous corrosion revealed by chips at the edge. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1600-1700. Diameter: 14.5mm, Thickness (clear of loop): 4.9mm, Weight: 4.05gms

Lead possible weight. Cast rectangular billet, made in an open mould probably formed in coarse sand, which has imprinted the sides of the object. Lightly patinated. This might be a very small ingot, but the mass is so close to one averdepois ounce as to prompt consideration of it as a deliberately made weight. The sand imprints suggest this was made using a sand bed, which was a requirement of more extensive or professionally conducted casting projects. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1700.
