A flint flake; a piece of debitage, dating from the Mesolithic or Neolithic periods, about 9000 BC - 2200 BC. It is a secondary flake of yellow grey flint with cortex on the left side and as inclusions. There are at least two previous removal scars at the distal end on the left side of the dorsal face, at right angles to the axis of this flake. It is 41.9mm long, 26mm wide and 5.3mm thick. 4.28g.

An incomplete copper alloy belt-stud mount dating to 1200 - 1400. The mount is broadly sub-triangular and takes the form of a forward-facing, crowned head, probably depicting a king. The facial features have been incised into the convex surface of the mount, creating a stylised appearance. The eyes are oval with triangular indentations for the pupils. An almost complete copper alloy medieval buckle and plate, dating from c. AD 1350 - 1500.The buckle frame is D shaped and angled. The frame is rectangular in cross section, and has a notch for the pin to rest in on the outer frame. The pin bar is narrower and squared at either end. The pin is a piece of copper alloy looped round the pin bar, it is worn and missing the tip. Lead shot. Cast cylindrical slug, distorted by impact against a flat hard surface; patinated. The mass, at just over half an ounce, and the diameter, would be consistent with use as a supplementary load for a smoothbore muzzle loading pistol. This would be used to increase the 'stopping power' of a round. The use of eccentric forms of projectile was particularly characteristic of the 17th century. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1600-1700. A copper alloy uniface coin weight probably dating to c.1400-1600. The weight is circular and has a rectangular cross section. The face is stamped with a depiction of a ship with a four-stranded bow and single mast flanked by a fleur-de-lis to the left and a lion to the right. The reverse is plain Reference: Withers & Withers (1995: 19) publish a similar example which they suggest was a weight for the gold noble. Date: Post medieval. Diameter: 16.8mm. Thickness: 4.8mm. A fragment of a pewter/tin Spoon of Post-Medieval Date (AD 1650-1750). The object is composed of a portion of an ovate concave bowl and small amount of pentagonal sectioned stem. The majority of the stem and handle and a large proportion of the bowl are missing. On the back of the bowl is a faint "rat's tail". This was popular in spoon design during the Post-Medieval period, and strengthened the joint and supported the bowl. The metal is a mid-grey in colour with a smooth patina. Iron shot. Solid cast ball, with mould line. The mass exceeds the capacity of weighing equipment at the disposal of this reporter, though it does not feel inconsistent with a weight of c.5lbs or 2.3kg. The diameter is probably consistent with the 3½ inch bore of the light field gun known as a Saker or Drake - names drawn from those of hawks and reptiles, and applied to such weaponry in the 17th century. Lead spindle whorl. Cast cylindrical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter c.11mm and bearing traces of moulded decoration on one flat side. The decoration comprises moulded radial ribs between inner and outer edges, the latter raised. Patinated, and with a deep and probably recent cut which distorts the object. The moulded decoration may point to an association with the early post-medieval class of biconvex whorls. A copper-alloy fragment of a Roman brooch of the Colchester Derivative Type, dating to AD 43-120. It is the foot of the brooch. The foot has an oval cross-section and on its back face there is the pierced catch-plate. The catch-plate is sub-triangular in profile and has two sub-triangular holes. The rear edge of the catch-plate is curled forward to create the catch. Copper alloy possible vessel mount. Cast flat-based foot to be attached to a wooden vessel or casket. The foot is of crooked form with an integrally cast projecting spike of length 16mm and a drilled fixing hole of diameter 3.3mm adjacent to it at its upper end. The foot itself bears four nicks dividing a frontal curve, forming the paw of a triangular animal pad at the end of a narrow ankle at right angles to it.
