Fragment of a medieval copper alloy shield-shaped strap end from a folding clasp dating to the period c. AD 1275 -1450. Sheet metal shield-shaped plate with a narrowed waist and rectangular front projection. A rectangular bar mount is attached to the front projection with a single rivet whcih sits flush with the surface of the mount. The shank has a roved over end and pierces a small square of sheet copper alloy, possibly from a second, missing plate. See: Egan & Pritchard, 2002, p. 116, fig. 76 B.

A circular hole pierces both plates just behind the strap bar to house the wire pin. The attachment end is held together by a copper alloy rivet with roved over ends. These would have originally been folded around the strap bar of the missing buckle frame. The plate exhibtits three rivet holes in a triangular arrangement, one of which retains a dome-headed rivet. Post medieval copper alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle dating to the period c. AD 1575 - 1700. Central narrowed strap bar with a D-shaped loop on one side and a trapezoidal loop on the other. The trapezoidal loop has a trefoliate outer edge and exhibits an engraved longitudinal groove. The D-shaped loop exhibits two pairs of radiating diagonal grooves. A circular aperture has been drilled just behind the loop to house the pin and allow it to swivel. The plate exhibits a rivet hole just behind the hole for the pin. Traces of engraved zig zag decoration are visible on the front face.

Medieval gilt heavily cast copper alloy mount, probably from harness, square, domed and hollow-backed. The face has a small central boss at the centre of a cross formed from lines of punched counter-relief pellets, between the arms of which are twin oblique lines of smaller pellets forming sub-lozengiform decoration. An outer border comprises cast beading with a boss at each angle. There is a short integral rivet at each angle on the reverse (lengths 3 - 5mm). 32 x 33mm. Height (excluding rivets) 10.5mm. Thickness of metal 2.5mm. Weighs 20.93g. 12th century.

Fragment of a late medieval - post medieval copper alloy purse frame dating to the period c. AD 1450 - 1550. D-sectioned bar, slightly curved along its length and terminating in an old break at either end. Approximately halfway along the extant length is a group of three parallel transverse grooves. Projecting at regular intervals from the flat edge of the frame are three integrally cast sewing loops, one of which is incomplete due to old damage.

The sheet plate is rectangular with a projecting D-shaped tab which is wrapped around the strap bar. A rectangular aperture has been cut in order to house the pin (now missing). Two rivet holes at the attachment end. The front of the plate exhibits an engraved design, now partly indiscernible due to wear. It appears to consist of a multi-stranded cross saltire, the triangular fields between each arm filled…
