A Medieval silver coin; a long cross penny of Edward I (AD 1272 - 1307) or Edward II (AD 1307 - 1327), Class 10cf dating from AD 1301 - 1310. Mint of Canterbury with an error in the reverse legend: CIVITAS CANTAS. See North (1991) Volume 2, number 1040 - 1043/2 on page 32. The coin is 17.9mm diameter, 0.7mm thick and 1.24g. Compare LIN-131D3C which is the same class and has the same error.

The object is a sub-rectangular plate with a tapering downturned arm to the left and a transverse break resulting in the loss of the right hand arm. The lower edge has two rectangular spurs. The back retains two small integral spurs, one on the retained arm, the other centrally. The front of the object retains a large amount of gilding. The metal is a dark green in colour with a predominantly smooth patina. Length: 44.87mm, Width: 17.82mm, Thickness (clear of rivets): 1.28mm, Weight: 3.6g.

A fragment of a copper alloy Roman brooch dating to c AD 25-60. All that remains of the brooch is the top of the bow, the wings and the top of the hinge. The brooch is likely to be a Rosette brooch as there appears to be evidence of a spring wrapped round a retaining bar. The fragment comprises wings which are split along the top. Rosette brooches typically have a spring mechanism to fasten them and it may be that the back of the wings have been pressed together to form a cylinder, or possibly the spring was damaged and the wings squeezed round so that the brooch could still be used. …

An incomplete copper-alloy Early Medieval (middle Anglo-Saxon) hair pin, dating to AD 700-900. It consists of the head, the collar and a small fragment of the shaft (1.47 mm long). The head is multi-faceted (polyhedral) and bears in each face a variable number of ring-and-dots, from a miniumum of one to a maximum of five. The surface is very corroded and worn. Compare Ross (1991, p. 316, fig. 5.45d). Length: 15.00 mm. Width: 10.23 mm. Thickness of the shaft: 2.38 mm. Weight: 3.35 g.

Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, 19mm thick and 28mm in diameter with a weight of 56.21grams. The whorl is circular in form and bi-conical in cross section. It has a central hole, 10mm in diamater and a prominent ridge around its edge. Each face is decorated differently ,one side has sets of two raised spheres sepreated by transverse raised lines, whilst the other side has transverse raised lines. The whorl matches Walton Rogers Form C, which she dates to the medieval period.

An incomplete copper-alloy middle Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) pin, dating to the 8th or 9th century. It has a spherical or globular head with a circular-sectioned shaft. Where the head meets the shaft there is a collar. The shaft breaks at 14.63 mm below the collar. The pin is very worn. Length: 23.68 mm, Width of the head: 9.13 mm, Thickness of the shaft: 2.75 mm, Weight: 2.78 g. Cf. Evans-Loveluck (2009, pp. 48-49). It is not possible to narrow it down to a particular Type or example because not complete.

A cast rectangular-section shank with indented sides conferring the appearance of a barley-sugar twist, and with a flat circular bowl at one end; broken across a narrow [2mm] lug at the other. The broken end perhaps marks where this component was attached to a rotating drum.
