An incomplete, copper alloy, Roman, brooch, Trumpet type, missing pin but otherwise complete. The object comprises the head, spring, bow, foot and catchplate of the brooch. The head is oval in shape and concave on the underside to accomodate the spring, it tapers sharply up into the bow which arches backwards. At the apex of the bow the smooth curve is broken by a central decorative element, this consists of a collar, with a deep recess followed by a wide collar of triangular spikes.
