Description: The clasp is incomplete and bent slightly and survives as one half of a pair of two plates. The wider flared end is missing as the book clasp has broken across a rivet hole at the centre of two incised concentric circles. Early Medieval (11th century) stirrup terminal: The copper alloy terminal is semi-cylindrical and the outer, convex face has moulded decoration whose lower terminal is slightly tapered and rounded. The decoration has a triangular protruding eyes, behind prominent ridges which are the eyes. Behind the eyes there are obliquely undulating grooves. The upper edge is broken, but not recently. Late medieval to early post medieval copper alloy thimble dating to the period c. AD 1300 - 1550. It is formed of a single piece of sheet copper alloy, cylindrical with a domed top which now has a jagged circular aperture. The exterior is covered in a series of hand-punched circular pits. A lead-alloy pilgrim's ampulla. The body is rounded and has no visible decorationon either side. Both handles are missing and the top has been broken off. What remains of the neck had been heavily damaged, pinched shut and folded in some places. Ampulla are known from the late 12th century as a popuar way of carrying a blessed item, in this case water, upon the person. Pilgrim badges in the early 14th century began to perform a similar function, but the use of ampullae is thought to have continued in use to the end of the 15th century.
