A Roman dupondius of Crispina, dating to c. AD 178-188 (Reece Period 9), VENVS FELIX reverse type depicting Venus seated left holding Victory and sceptre, S C to either side. Mint of Rome. Reference: RIC volume III, p.443, no. 686. Crispina’s coinage was traditionally dated to c. AD 178-182, but more recent research suggests that she was probably not exiled to Capri until c. AD 188. Therefore, we date her coins to c. AD 178-188; although some coins probably date to AD 178-80, we cannot be sure which they are so all Crispina’s coins are assigned to Reece Period 9 (AD 180-192).
