Early Medieval (11th century) stirrup terminal: The copper alloy terminal is semi-cylindrical and the outer, convex face has moulded decoration whose lower terminal is slightly tapered and rounded. The decoration has a triangular protruding eyes, behind prominent ridges which are the eyes. Behind the eyes there are obliquely undulating grooves. The upper edge is broken, but not recently. In the centre the bar is slightly thickened and has a vertical circular perforation. In the perforation there is a length of wire or long copper alloy rivet. On the outer face of the bar there is incomplete gilding, otherwise the object is abraded and has traces of red copper corrosion. Medieval (c.1350-1400) strap fitting; bar-mount pendant loop. The copper alloy bar loop is rectangular with a sub-quatrefoil openwork. The narrow edges of the frame are narrowed to enable the mount element to be seated, but this element is missing. The surface of the mount is heavily abraded. The pin is missing. The frame is abraded and has and incomplete light green patina. The buckle measures 13.46mm long, 14.71mm wide, and weighs 1.11g. Medieval (c. 1230 to c. 1400) buckle plate: The copper alloy buckle plate is sub-rectangular with a fold, off-centre, with a rectangular slot removed in the centre of the fold. The two remaining sections of the fold are broken, but not recently. The two plates which are formed by the break are riveted together with three incomplete rivets. The outer face of the plate has traces of gilding and the pattern of gilding suggests the rivet heads were perhaps domed originally and are since missing. Medieval (1450 to 1550) thimble or sewing ring: A copper alloy thimble or sewing ring which is composed of a single shell. The exterior has a plain rim with rows of conical indentations. The interior is undecorated. The surface of the thimble has an abraded matte light green-brown patina with traces of red copper corrosion. The thimble measures 9.82mm long and 23.15mm wide. Roman to Medieval (1st to 15th centuries) spindle whorl: A stone or ceramic spindle whorl which is sub-circular in plan and in profile is D-sectioned with the base being flat. There is a central sub-circular perforation which is 8.13mm diameter. The surface is a light cream colour with some pitting and voids. It measures 29.18mm diameter and is 17.87mm thick. It weighs 16.26g. Spindle whorls, as an artefact type, can be hard to date accurately as they remained in use for a long period of time.
