A complete Medieval silver penny of Henry VI (1422-1461), minted at Calais. Rosette-Mascle issue (1427-1430). Initial mark: cross IIIa or IIIb (North 1991: 76, ref: 1450). Obverse: +hENRICVS (rosette) REX (mascle) AnGLIE; Crowned bust facing. Reverse: VIL/ (mascle) LA (double saltire) /CALI/SIE (rosette); Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant. Diameter: 17.4mm. Weight: 0.84g. DA=12:10. North, J.J. 1991. English Hammered Coinage, Volume II, Edward I to Charles II, 1272-1662. Spink & Son, London.
