A fragment of a medieval, coarse ware, ceramic bung hole pitcher, jug or cistern (c. 1350-c. 1450).
Description: The fragment consists of a complete bunghole, the area around the hole thickened and proud of the surface, with a small fragment of body sherd still attached. There are distinct finger or thumb marks around the hole where the clay has been worked. The outside is an oxidised orange colour with a reduced grey core. The fabric is fine-grained with no visible inclusions.

A ceramic body sherd from a Vessel of Roman date (AD 150-400). The body sherd is composed of a hard creamy buff colour fabric with a gritty texture and a dark grey inner, caused by differential oxidisation. The inner surface retains some circumferential ridges indicative of wheel thrown ceramics.
