An incomplete copper-alloy probable dress hook of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1500 - 1650. The dress hook is similar to Reads Class D, Type 43 being lozenge in plan. The main plate lozenge shaped plate bears a recessed central quatrefoil design filled with blue enamel. An integral trefoil knop projects from the centre of each straight edge around the plate. A worn knop to one point of the lozenge represents the remains of the integral hook. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The metal has a mid-black patina and is worn. The brooch is curvilinear in form resulting in a roughly S-shaped piece though one terminal has been lost to an old, worn break.
