A slightly bent, copper alloy dress hook, of Read class E, type 5, dating from the early post-medieval period, about AD 1500 - 1650. The dress hook is cast in one piece with a body made of an openwork, trefoil ropework knot, each end terminating in a small five-petalled rosette. A horizontal bar connecting the tops of the two rosettes serves as the attachment loop. A curved, D section hook extends from the centre of the middle loop of the knot, with a tiny human head forming the collar at the top of the hook. The reverse of the tag is plain and unmarked.
