A Post-Medieval ceramic rim sherd of a large North Devon gravel-tempered ware vessel, probably dating to c. AD 1600-1850+. A hard fired, oxideised fabric, orange in colour and containing an abundant course, angular quartz temper, c. <4.5mm. The interior surface is coated with a highly glossy brown glaze. A large open mouthed vessel with a flat, flanged, slighly overhanging rim. The sherd weighs in excess of 200g. There is evidence of sooting on the underside of the rim.
