An incomplete Roman copper-alloy Hod Hill brooch (AD 43-75). Hattatt Class B. The pin and is missing. The head-plate is inverted-sub-trapezoidal in plan, having inward concave sides. The horizontal upper side has been rolled forwards to create a cylinder for the iron axis bar which is mainly in the form of corrosion. A portion of the pin loop protrudes rearwards from the centre of the head-plate. The head-plate has a width of 14.0mm. An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy annular brooch (c. 1200-c. 1400). The pin is missing. The brooch is circular in plan and sub-rectangular in cross-section. A constriction for the pin has a width of 3.0mm. The upper face is bevelled internally and is decorated with evenly spaced pellets. The bar is circular in cross-section and has a diameter of c. 1.3mm. The frame has a transverse fracture. This brooch has an even dark green patina. The projection consists of two elements which merge into one, after having defined a circular loop. The frame swells slightly where it borders the loop. The bevelled edge is interrupted where the seal would pivot above a chamber of the pump.
