An early post-medieval French Shield jetton. Description: The obverse of the jetton shows a shield of France with three fleurs de lis, surmounted by a crown. There is an illegible legend around the margin. The reverse shows an imperial orb surmounted by a cross within an ornamental tressure that has three main arches. Again, there is an illegible legend around the margin. The jetton is very corroded and there is some damage around a ragged hole that may have, at some point, have been a piercing.
