A complete Roman copper-alloy cast nail-cleaner with moulded neck and shouldered blade, dating to the period circa AD 43-150. The cleaner is leaf shape, and flat, tapering into a sharp point, which has slightly bent out of shape. At the attachment end is a sub-triangular shaped suspension loop, pierced with a circular hole in the centre. Below the suspension loop is a collar consisting of two bands. The nail cleaner has a light to dark green patina. It is similar in form to examples seen in Crummy 1983, pg 58, no. 1872-1874, representing a hybrid of both. It is noted that this type is…

An incomplete copper-alloy trumpet brooch of Roman date, circa AD 75 - 175. The object has broken and is missing the head and catch-plate. All that remains is a portion of the bow which gradually tapers from the broadly circular break where the head would be. The design on the bow is three grooved bands met by a vertical grooved line running from the head. The rest of the brooch is lost to a worn break. The metal has a mid-green/brown patina and is worn.
