A gold bezel from a Roman finger-ring, consisting of an intaglio within an ovoid sheet-metal setting, with the hoop of the ring almost entirely absent. The intaglio is of a dark-blue and grey stone, probably nicolo, which is engraved with a standing figure of Mars facing right, wearing a short tunic, a plumed helmet and holding a spear out in front and a shield that is resting on the ground behind.
