An incomplete 4th coinage, pre-treaty series C silver halfgroat of Edward III (1327-77) from the London mint with a cross initial mark (1351-1352). North 1148. Wedge-tailed 'R's, reverse-barred 'N's, closed 'C's and 'E's, with annulet stops.
Obverse description: Crowned bust facing within tressure. Obverse inscription: +EDWARDVS.REX.A[NG]LI Z FRANC.
Reverse description: Long cross quartering coin, three pellets in each angle within inner pelleted border, legend in two concentric lines around. Reverse inscription: +POS/VI DEV/[A]DIVT/OR[E M]//CIVI/TA[S]/LON/DON.

A complete, worn and folded Medieval silver long cross cut halfpenny of Henry III (1216-1272), minted at London. Class 3a-3b, 1248-1249 (North 1994: 226, refs: 986-987).
Obverse: h[ENRICV]S RE[X III]; Crowned bust facing without sceptre.
Reverse: [ ]NLV/NDE (ND ligated); Voided long cross with three pellets in each quadrant.
Diameter: c. 17.5mm. Weight: 0.59g. DA=12:5-6.
The coin was folded through 180° when found so that the obverse was not visible.

A silver half penny of later medieval date. The coin is most probably an early issue of Henry VI (first reign) - possibly his plain issue (1427-30) - however, it is very difficult to ascribe thetype more precisely due to the lack of diagnostic features (initial marks, stops). The identification is based on the form of crown where the lis, side fluers and ornaments conjoin to give the impression of a band of annulets
