An incomplete post-medieval copper-alloy sub-annular buckle frame with central bar, creating two loops. It is missing a pin. The frame is oval in shape and triangular in cross-section, the underside being flat and theoutside edge to the front convex. The central bar is rectangular in cross-section, being taller than it is wide. It measures 19.5mm in length, 17.5mm in width, 2.7mm in thickness and weighs 1.83g. Whitehead has published similar buckles (Whitehead 2003, 48) for which he suggests the date 1650-1720.

The upper surface is decorated with a series of irregularly spaced concentric grooves. A band around the centre bears a curved ribbing design. No evidence of fixings are present. It is characterised by a frame of two oval loops set either side of a central bar. The moulding of the loops are cricular on one side and flat on the other. The frame angles inwards at the point where it meets the bar. The pin is missing from the buckle. The object corresponds to the no 321 in Whitehead 1996, page 55. The spindle no longer remains and the frame is undecorated. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 21.1mm long, 15.6mm wide, 3.4mm thick and weighs 1.7g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead p.111, no.712 and is dated to circa AD 1720 - 1790.
