Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Kirklees
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint lithic implement probably dating from the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age (3300 BC - 1000 BC). It is formed on a heat altered and crazed piece of flint, with some pot lid fractures on one face. It is oval in plan, but broken at one end, and a pointed oval in cross-section. There is invasive, scaled, low-angle retouch on both faces. This originally suggested use as an arrowhead, but the rounded end is not typical of arrowheads (Dodds 1/5/18 pers. comm.). The tool is thought to be been hafted and use as a thin scraper or knife is suggested. The flint tool is 21.3mm long, 16.7…
