An incomplete and misshapen post-Medieval lead alloy powder measure cap used for measuring a charge of gunpowder (c. 1600-c. 1700). Courtney 1988: 2, fig. 3. The open end is damaged and the closed end is sub-oval in plan. One loop is intact and the other is missing. This measure is grey. Height: 16.2mm; width: 27.7mm; thickness: 18.5mm. Weight: 16.82g. The loops enabled the cap to be attached separately to the bandolier (belt) of the wearer so that they could be removed without the possibility of being dropped and lost. A Post-Medieval ceramic sherd of North Devon gravel tempered ware, probably dating to c. AD 1600-1850+. A handle sherd, comprising of the juncture between the handle and body of the vessel. A hard fired oxidised ware with an orange-brown fabric containing an abundant coarse grained temper comprising of abundant, angular quartz, c. <2mm, with more occassional ferrous and limestone inclusions. The vessel features a solid, highly glossy, mottled green glaze on the interior surface. Striations on the surface would suggest that the vessel was wiped prior to firing. Weight: 82.06g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch, a rosette 'lion' (Léontomorphe) brooch probably a local copy of a continental type, (Mackreth type LEO 9.a). The brooch consists of a circular sheet metal plate with a lower extent formed as a fantail ('rosette' shaped) and with surface traces of a further separate circular element lost from the top part of the plate, which would have been secured through the hole inthe centre of the head. A complete copper alloy hinged bivalve circular mirror case dating to the medieval period (AD 1150-1450). The case is fused together and no attempt has yet been made to open it. The case is slightly encrusted but there appears to be punched dot decoration around the edges and a cross through the middle. The hinge and clasp are intact. Numerous comparable examples have been recorded on the PAS database including BH-4DE2E9, BH-36EB35, HAMP-36B010 and WILT-3CA276.
