A complete copper alloy buckle plate dating to the medieval period (c. AD 1250-1400). The buckle plate is made from a single sheet of copper alloy that has been folded equally in two; a rounded section at the fold indicates where the plate would have fitted around the buckle frame. The plate is rectangular in plan and open-ended. Five round headed rivets are extant and these would have secured the plate to a leather or textile strap. A medieval, cast copper-alloy, single loop buckle frame. Description: The D-shaped frame has a rectangular cross-section and thickens towards the apex, coming to a blunt point with an incised notch forming a pin rest. There is a narrowed and offset strap bar, rectangular in section. Measurements: Length 15.05mm: Width 13.28mm: Thickness 2.06mm: Weight 1.18g. Discussion: Similar buckles are shown in Whitehead, 2003. Page 20 and dated c. AD 1350-1450.

A post-medieval, cast copper-alloy loop chape from a two-piece shoe buckle. Description: The frame of the chape is "cooking pot" shaped with a single, internal spike on the widest side. The narrower side has a curved internal edge whilst the outer edge is thickened and drilled to accept a steel spindle. This is now corroded away and only iron corrosion stains remain. The centre of the drilled side is notched to accept the pin, now missing. An incomplete copper alloy probable Post Medieval buckle, dating to c. AD 1600-1800. The fragment comprises of the external edge of one rectangular loop, and is cast into an openwork lattice pattern. Punched annulets mark the junctures of the arms of the lattice, with each arm decorated with two parallel incised lines. The panel is rectagular in section, 2mm thick, 30.54mm in length, 8.11mm in width, and weighs 2.29g. An incomplete Post-Medieval cast copper alloy frame from a buckle dating to the period circa 1700-1720. The frame is an irregular rectangular in shape with the top and bottom edge curving slightly inwards towards the centre of the frame. At the centre of the two curved edges are three lobed knobs resting above the spindle holes. The spindle is missing, leaving traces of iron corrosion on the frame. An incomplete medieval cast copper alloy single loop D shape buckle with a narrowed and offset strap bar dating to c AD 1250 - 1350. It is missing its pin The frame of the buckle is D shape in section with a wide outer frame but no decoration. The plate is folded around the strap bar but truncated, extending only a short way beyond the fold. The front plate has an escalloped attachment end, with three rivet holes, one roughly central and with two nearer to the bar. The plate is decorated with an incised border and traces of gilding.
