Object type: HARNESS PENDANT
Broad period: MEDIEVAL

A copper alloy Medieval harness pendant dating from about AD 1200 - 1400. It is rectangular, wider than it is tall, with a suspension loop at rght angles to the plane of the pendant projecting from the centre of the upper edge. Object type: SPINDLE WHORL
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: North Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A decorated lead spindle whorl, probably of Medieval to Post Medieval date, about AD 1100 - 1600. It is flattened bi-conical in form, with a wide median band (Walton Rogers Form C). Both faces are decorated with cast designs in the form of ribs making triangle shapes and raised pellets. The central aperture is sub-circular and has a diameter of 10.2mm. Walton Rogers (in the Flixborough volume and York Fasicules) suggests that biconical whorls date from AD 1100 onwards and cites Ivens et al (1995) that those with dots are Post Medieval. It is 26.3mm diameter, 11.3mm thick and 27.08g.
