An incomplete and worn cast copper-alloy late Roman buckle plate in Quoit Brooch Style (QBS). Description: The buckle survives only as a thick openwork decorative plate. The plate has two opposing zoomorphic heads in profile abutting the strap bar in a way intended to indicate the beasts are holding the bar in their mouths. The animal heads emanate from central circular part of the frame. The circular central element has one side missing but on the remaining sides has small rectangular lugs. A complete silver filigree button. The separately applied wire attachment loop is U shaped and soldered to the octagonal silver backplate. The domed is fomed from applied silver twisted wire and strip metal. There are eight curled strands of twisted wire, emanating from a central pin with a wire band around it. Each of the curls is framed by a drop-shaped strip of silver sheet. A Roman copper alloy hinged colchester derivative developed large south western T-shaped brooch, probably dating to c. AD 75-150. Only the upper bow and head survive, missing the pin, partial healoop and lower bow. At the head of the brooch the wings survive complete to a width of 22.0mm, these are cylindrical, plain and with a rectangular slot cut into the centre of the reverse to accomodate a hinged pin.
