An incomplete cast copper-alloy buckle dating to the Medieval period, c. 1250-1400. The strap bar is missing in an old break, but the front edge of the frame is preserved intact. It originally would have been 'D' shaped in plan, with an offset constricted strap bar demonstrating knopped terminals. The outer frame is bevelled and somewhat facetted, thickening towards its midpoint and demonstrating a recessed pin-rest on its upper surface. The domed surface is decorated with a moulded cross. The flat surface has raised rim framing a sub-circular depression. An Early Medieval copper alloy hooked clasp dated to c. AD 600-1100. The clasp can be classified by Read in 'Hooked Clasps & Eyes' under Class A, Type 1, which he suggests has been manufactured using the sheeting method. The clasp is triangular shaped with the point bent to form a hook. The wider section of the hook has two off centre V-shaped notches. An complete cast copper-alloy double loop buckle frame dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1350 - AD 1650). The frame possesses a sub-D-shaped sectioned frame of two equal sized rectangular shaped loops with a right-angled notch at each corner. The edges are plain, as is the flat underside. The central bar is set back and has an off-centred notch for the missing pin. The buckle measures 25mm in length, 24mm in width and 2mm in thickness. The buckle weighs 4.13 grams. For a similar example see Egan and Pritchard 1991, pp. 97-99, nos. 449-451, and no. 459 for an example with a plate.
