Object type: STRAP END
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete cast copper alloy probable strap end of medieval date (c. AD 1300-1400). The strap end is in the form of an annular buckle with integrally cast strap and projecting knop fromthe outside of the frame. The area around the back of the buckle, where the strap is located, does appear to have an old break to it and it is likely that this is the very end of a larger strap end although no direct comparisons were found in the available literature.
