Three complete pieces of debitage or waste material, produced during the knapping process of probable Mesolithic date, circa 9,000 - 4,000 BC. All three pieces are tertiary flakes displaying conchoidal fractures. No other signs of working are evident.
Debitage 1: Dark grey. Dimensions: 27.5mm x 24.4mm x 6.3mm. Weight: 3.8g.
Debitage 2: Dark orange. Dimensions: 23.4mm x 24.8mm x 5.6mm. Weight: 3.1g.
Debitage 3: Light grey. Dimensions: 17.4mm x 20.9mm x 3.8mm. Weight: 1.9g.

A complete flint core of late Mesolithic date, c.7000 - 4000 BC. The core is conical with a tapering sub-ovate section. The core displays two negative scars from blade removal.
The flint is a light grey colour with a large area of remaining cortex. The implement is 26.7mm long, 23.1mm wide, 18.3mm thick and weighs 11.5g.
This is a relatively small core, suggesting it could have been carried around and maintained for continued use to produce small blades as required over time. Broader flakes are indicative of an earlier Mesolithic date, with a general move towards narrower flakes…
