Medieval copper alloy harness pendant, dating to 1300-1500AD , Length: 31 mm, width: 20 mm, thickness: 2 mm, weight: 3.08 g. The object is crucifom and has a sub rectangular cross section. each of the plain rectangular, triangular cross sectioned arms has a rounded, domed projection. The fourth has an integral suspension loop with a circular hole above it. The object is very similar to an example in 'The Medieval horse and its equipment' , p. 67, fig. 50

The object consists of two articulated plates, each one is sub rectangular in form and cross section. An incomplete copper alloy harness pendant dating to the medieval period (AD 1200 - AD 1400). The harness pendant is flat and quatrefoil shaped. There is a suspension loop projecting from the top which is perpendicular to the main body. The pendant is decorated with a central, six petalled flower in red enamel. There are four sets of trefoil leaves issuing from the flower, one within each lobe of the quatrefoil. The design is set against a blue enamel background within a copper alloy border. An incomplete copper alloy harness pendant dating to the medieval period (AD 1200 - AD 1400). The harness pendant is flat and lozenge shaped. There is no suspension loop remaining. The raised design consists of a central, standing lion, with all four feet on the ground and the forepaws together. In heraldic terms, this position is known as 'lion statant'.
