A worn and incomplete Medieval copper alloy Candle Holder. It consists of the remains of a tube 28mm long, 19.0mm in diameter which tapers at its rounded base and developes into a stem with a raised collar 9.0mm in diameter. Below this the stem continues for a further 6.0mm, finishing with a rounded end. It has decoration of three pairs of incised lines around its circumference, just below the rim, at its middle, and just above the base of the tube.

An Middle Iron Age copper alloy bowed plate brooch with hinge, pin and catchplate dating to 400-200 BC. The bow is a wide H shape in plan where the foot and head parts of the plate are perpendicular to the slightly arched bow. A channel runs across the foot, along the bow and across the head. A Medieval to Post Medieval copper alloy annular buckle dating to the period cAD1350 - 1650. The buckle has a simple circular frame with bevelled inside edge and a recessed strap bar. A seperately made copper alloy pin survives intact on the bar. The buckle measures 18.70mm in diameter and weighs 2.47g. Similar examples can be found in Whitehead (2003:44-45), to which he assigns a date range of AD 1350-1650.

A complete Post Medieval copper alloy open thimble dating to the period cAD1500 - 1620. The thimble has sloping sides and a continuous right-hand spiral of square indentations running from the base to the top rim. At the end of the indentations there is a stamped maker's mark of a crown with three circular rings inside a domed recessed panel. An incised line runs round the lower rim of the thimble. It measures 10.74mm in height, 19.17mm in diameter at the top and 21.09mm at the base and weighs 4.84g. Reference is made to this type of thimble in Holmes, FRG Datasheet 9, pg 3.

A complete copper alloy Crotal bell dating to the period AD1650-1850. The bell is spherical with a sub rectangular suspension loop at its top. In the top half of the bell, there are two sound holes, 7.3mm in diameter, on opposite sides. Around the bell's circumference, is a raised rib. The lower half has a long slit with a circular sound hole of 6.5mm diameter at each end. Its surface is worn and undecorated. An iron clapper is inside and the bell still rings. A complete copper-alloy folding strap clasp buckle of medieval date, c.AD 1350 - 1450. The frame is sub-rectangular with a narrowed and offset rectangular strap bar. The opposite end of the frame is circular in section and also narrowed with a rotating closure plate looped around it. The plate is decorated with two incised X's within rectangular borders. The metal has a dark brown/green patina and is worn. The clasp is 21.7mm long, 12.1mm wide, 3.7mm thick and weighs 1.9g. Medieval copper alloy harness pendant, dating to 1300-1500AD , Length: 31 mm, width: 20 mm, thickness: 2 mm, weight: 3.08 g. The object is crucifom and has a sub rectangular cross section. each of the plain rectangular, triangular cross sectioned arms has a rounded, domed projection. The fourth has an integral suspension loop with a circular hole above it. The object is very similar to an example in 'The Medieval horse and its equipment' , p. 67, fig. 50

An incomplete Post Medieval copper alloy book clasp dating to the period c. AD 1500 - 1700. The fitting is rectangular in shape with one wider flaring end. The opposite end of the plate is straight and from the centre projects a broken hook which curves backwards. The tip of the hook is missing to an old break. An incomplete lead alloy button, probably of late Medieval dating (about AD 1300 - 1500) and with evidence of repair. The head of the button is circular, and slightly domed, with a flat back. The front has a central cross design in relief, created by four chevron shaped recesses. The arms of the cross terminate with a pellet, with further pellets round the outer edge in the angle of each chevron. The pellets are all very worn. Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, Width: 13 mm, diameter: 35 mm, internal diameter: 9 mm, weight: 63.45 g. The whorl is circular in form and bi-conical in cross section. It has been roughly cast and is decorated on both faces with raised lines arranged in a star of David pattern, interspersed with raised dots. It is a two part cloth seal, formed of two circles of lead pressed together. It is probably Dutch and from Leiden. It features a crown above a shield bearing a lion rampant facing left. There is a possible L to left (for Leiden?) and 1/2 to right, all sitting within beaded border. The reverse is plain.

A much abraded cast copper alloy zoomorphic terminalled strap end of later early medieval (later Anglo-Saxon) date, 800 - 1000 AD. The strap-end is broadly sub-rectangular in plan with two parallel sides. Those sides taper slightly along their length and terminate in a blunted point. A collection of 657 probable round shot all found in the same hole. The balls are of two main sizes, the larger making up the majority of the group. The smaller balls are possibly for a pistol. One ball more closely resembles a shot plug. The rough diameter for the larger balls is approximately 17mm, and many have mould lines. There is a variation across the group in the level of oxidation on the surface of the balls, but this may be due to varying soil conditions throughout the hole.
