An uncertain tear-drop shaped lead-alloy object likely post medieval c. AD 1500-1800 palm guard. Description: The object is tear drop shape in plan, both faces are flat, the sides slant by approx. 10mm from face to face. The object has some minor damage with a nick in one edge a third of the way up. On the narrower face there are the remnants two circular posts, of unknown purpose. The broader face has some slight indentations on the wider part. Measurements: length: 60.96mm, width: 35.96mm, thickness: 12.23mm, weight: 147.58g.

Description: The object is tear drop shape in plan with a convex face and a flat face. The flat face is mostly smooth except for a concave indentation in the centre. An incomplete lead-alloy pilgrim badge of medieval date, c.AD 1200 - 1400. The object is rectangular in plan with a narrow rectangular section. Each of the four corners are broken and worn though would have featured sewing holes. The front faces bears a moulded design featuring a knight on horseback riding left within a beaded border. The name +GVILELM is present along the top edge. The reverse is undecorated. The imagery represents St Guilhem-le-Desert of Southern France. An irregular longitudinal overlap of metal has been crudely smoothed suggesting the object was constructed from a single sheet rolled over onto itself. Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, Width: 13 mm, diameter: 35 mm, internal diameter: 9 mm, weight: 63.45 g. The whorl is circular in form and bi-conical in cross section. It has been roughly cast and is decorated on both faces with raised lines arranged in a star of David pattern, interspersed with raised dots. Its fits Walton Rogers form C which she dates to the medieval period.

Post medieval lead alloy cloth seal, dating to 1600-1750. Thickness: 2 mm, diameter: 16 mm, weight: 1.62 g The object is circular in form and rectangular in cross section. It is a two part cloth seal, formed of two circles of lead pressed together. It is probably Dutch and from Leiden. It features a crown above a shield bearing a lion rampant facing left. There is a possible L to left (for Leiden?) and 1/2 to right, all sitting within beaded border. The reverse is plain.

Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, Thickness: 8 mm, diameter: 31 mm, internal diameter: 9 mm, weight: 48.07 g The object is circular in form and rectangular in cross section. It has a central hole, 9mm in diameter and one one face has a slight linear indentation to one side (right image as shown), suggesting a cross bar to hold a shaft in place. This would confirm its use as a spindle whorl. It has no decoration and it fits Walton Rogers form B.

A possibly complete lead-alloy weight or gaming piece of possible Early-Medieval date, c.AD 850 - 1050. The object is plano-convex with a large central depression in the flat face. The upper domed surface displays a shiny grey patina while the sides and base are a light creamy brown colour. The object is 23.6mm in diameter, 14.8mm tall, the depression is 8.1mm in diameter and 6.1mm deep. It weighs 41.9g. Similar objects have been recorded on the PAS database. A complete lead alloy Seal Matrix of Medieval date (AD 1200-1400). The object is pentagonal and flat with an incised inscription and central deign. The central motif is a cross formed from four wedges. Around the cross is an inscription which reads: S IO/ NS (seal of John or Joan). The inscription rotates through 180 degrees at 12 O'clock. There is no clear indication on the back of the object of a suspension loop. Length: 23.74mm, Width: 19.10mm, Thickness: 3.93mm, Weight: 10.3g The metal is a light cream in colour with a slightly pitted patina.
