An incomplete lead alloy button, probably of late Medieval dating (about AD 1300 - 1500) and with evidence of repair.
The head of the button is circular, and slightly domed, with a flat back. The front has a central cross design in relief, created by four chevron shaped recesses. The arms of the cross terminate with a pellet, with further pellets round the outer edge in the angle of each chevron. The pellets are all very worn.
