A copper alloy Iron Age/Roman Nauheim derivative brooch dating to c AD 25-100. The brooch is incomlet and all that remains is the bow and a small part of the catchplate. At the top of the bow is small and circular in cross section and is the part that would have been between the coils of the springs. This broadens into the main part of the bow and curves over and down towards the foot which is missing its tip and has a small part of the catchplate extending out to the back. A copper alloy Roman Aesica brooch dating to c AD 25-60. The brooch is missing part of the fantail and its pin. The brooch is complex. The wings are short and are semi-circular to cover the spring. Two parts extend down from the wings. First is a flat plate which is lozengiform, narrow at the top and then extending diagonal to terminate with a knop at each point and then narrowing again before finally broadening to create a triangular fantail, which is missing both its final points. An Middle Iron Age copper alloy bowed plate brooch with hinge, pin and catchplate dating to 400-200 BC. The bow is a wide H shape in plan where the foot and head parts of the plate are perpendicular to the slightly arched bow. A channel runs across the foot, along the bow and across the head. This probably once contained inlaid material, perhaps coral or glass. The catchplate is hook formed from the back of the foot plate.
