An incomplete copper-alloy Early Medieval (middle Anglo-Saxon) hair pin, dating to the 8th to the 9th century AD. It has a rectangular faceted head; each side is undecorated. Where the head joins the shaft there is a collar consisting of a circumferential raised line. The shaft is circular in cross-section; it breaks at 4.74 mm from the head. It is very abraded Length: 13.25 mm. Width of the head: 7.82 mm. Thickness of the shaft: 2.24 mm. Weight: 1.84 g.

A hoard of 345 coins in a fragmentary stoneware jug. The coins were discovered with the remains of a ceramic vessel. The whole section of earth containing the find was lifted and brought to the British Museum where it was excavated in the Department of Conservation, to see if there was any significance in the way the coins lay within the vessel. Fragment of a Late Saxon zoomorphic mount, possibly part of a stirrup strap mount dating to the period c. AD 950 - 1100. It exhibits heavily worn breaks on most edges and the remains of a flange projecting at a ninety degree angle from the bottom edge. The front exhibits a moulded zoomorphic design consisting of a sinuous body with gaping mouth and large eye, however, the precise composition is difficult to determine due to the fragmentary nature of the artefact. Running below the body is a moulded chevron with cross-hatched engraving. Traces of gilding remain in places.

Incomplete medieval single-loop buckle with integral plate dating to the period c. AD 1200 - 1300. The frame exhibits a flared, recessed outer edge in the form of a scallop shell. It exhibits five circular apertures and a series of radiating engraved grooves. At the back of the D-shaped frame is a square aperture which would have housed the pin. The integrally cast plate exhibits a moulded collar and the edge of a rivet hole running along the line of the break.

Copper alloy medieval strap end with shield shaped plate and riveted transverse bar mount across the square end. There are two medial copper alloy rivets both with surviving roves on the reverse. Similar Strap Ends are illustrated in Egan, G Dress Accessories 1150-1450 (2002) p157. BERK-18B914 on the PAS database is also a good parallel. Circa AD 1250-1450.

Description: Medieval gilded silver bar-mount. Rectangular when viewed from the front, trapezoidal in cross-section. A cylindrical shaft with a burred-over end, either a well-concealed separate rivet or an integrally cast rivet, projects from the centre of the reverse. The front and sides exhibit traces of gilding. Dimensions: Originally recorded as length 19.8mm, width 17.5mm, thickness 2.5mm, weight 2.1g. Incomplete Roman copper alloy Colchester Derivative hinged brooch dating to the period c. AD 50 - 150. The wings are cylindrical, with a seam across the back and are divided by a central slot for the missing hinged pin. The copper alloy axis bar and the butt of the pin are visible within. The front of the wings are moulded into a series of longitudinal ridges, however, the decoration is heavily worn. The bow tapers back from the head and terminates in an old break. The lower bow, foot and catchplate are missing.

A complete but heavily worn gilt-silver posie/posy Finger Ring of Post-Medieval date, c.16th century. Description: The ring has an evenly well-formed band, D-shaped cross section. The interior circumference has an incised inscription typical of the type, in block capitals, it reads '+VERTV PASETH RICHES'. The initial mark is indeterminate. The exterior surface of the ring is undecorated with some evidence of heavy wear, gilding remains only on the inner band.
