An extremely worn silver coin. The coin weighs 1.9g, has a diameter of 19.4mm and thickness of 0.6mm. The thinness, look and feel of this coin would suggest a hammered rather than milled coin. No legend is even slightly visible on either the obverse or reverse.
One side of the flan seems to show the ends of a laureate tie, reverse head profile, forehead and upper nose profile of a head or bust right. It is important to note that the end of the ribbon tie almost touched the edge (or current edge) of the flan, thus allowing no space for a legend.
The other side of the flan is worn…

Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Nottinghamshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A patinated flint implement, possibly a reworked natural flake or earlier debitage. Dr Kevin Leahy says: "the utilisation of natural flint was a practice characteristic of the Later Bronze Age and Iron Age".
The surface shows a recorticated patina with what may be iron staining. Rough scaled retouching along the edge seems to cut this recortication, suggesting re-use. There is what may be a burin at the tip of the implement.

An incomplete iron axe head, probably of post medieval or modern date. It has a wedge shaped section and in plan is broadly triangular, resembling Ward-Perkins type II. However the socket, which is missing the rear fifty percent, is eliptical rather than tubular, and the lower edge of the blade is straight rather than curved, suggesting a later than medieval date. The entire surface has a well formed iron corrosion patina. There are no visible makers marks or decoration. A casting line can be seen along the lower surface of the blade, which suggest a post-medieval date.
