An incomplete copper-alloy Trumpet brooch of Roman date, c.AD 75 - 175. The head is sub-ovate with worn breaks to all edges and a concave reverse. A circular sectioned bow extends from the front of the head widening in circumference to a double banded semi-circular collar. The rest of the brooch is lost to a worn break. The metal has a mid-green/brown patina and is worn. The brooch is 22.1mm long, 8.1mm wide, 6mm thick and weighs 1.7g. Similar examples are illustrated in Hattatt, p.327, fig.186 and are dated to circa AD 75 - 175.

A complete copper-alloy button of Post-Medieval to modern date, c.AD 1800 - 1900. The button is circular in plan with a flat section, and a looped shank at the centre of the reverse. The front surface is decorated with six inward facing triangular foliate devices around a central flower of six pellets. The reverse is stamped with the text EXTRA RICH in capitals, enclosing the shank. The metal has a dark brown patina and is in fair condition. The button is 13.2mm in diameter, 1.6mm thick, 5.4mm with shank and weighs 1.8g.

The front surface is decorated with a cross formed of five ring and dot motifs with engrailed outer edges and a veined leaf in each quadrant. The remains of a separate iron shank can be seen at the centre of the reverse. The metal has a dark green patina and is in fair condition. An incomplete copper-alloy attachment lug from a chafing dish handle of medieval to Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1400 - 1600. The lug is C-shaped with a recessed collar to the upper edge and a flat rectangular terminal. A circular scar is present at the centre of the terminal. The metal has a delaminated brown-green patina. The object is 23.3mm long, 12.3mm wide, 7.4mm thick and weighs 9.4g. Along with a heart-shaped frame, this lug would have formed the handle of a chafing dish; a vessel that would have been filled with smouldering charcoal and used to keep food warm. Similar…

A copper-alloy Medieval composite strap end with forked spacer. The sheets are sub-rectangular in plan, tapering towards an enlarged oval end. A copper-alloy rivet secured the strap close to the concave attachment end. The forked spacer projetcs from between the oval terminal of the sheets with a collared knop. Both faces are plain and slightly abraded. The slot between the sheets probably still retains fragments of the strap. As. Egan-Pritchard (1991, p. 141, no. 652). It dates to AD 1270-1450. It consists of two adjoining pieces which form a sub-ractangular shape in plan, tapering towards the broken end; the opposite end is rounded and complete. The cross-section of both fragments is oval.
