A silver denarius of Julia Soaemias dating to the period AD 218 to 222 (Reece period 10). VENVS CAELESTIS reverse type depicting Venus left holding apple and sceptre. Star in right field. Mint of Rome. RIC IV, pt 2, p. 48 / Elagabalus, no. 241. This coin has an apparently deliberate semi-circular cut-out between 7 and 8 o'clock on the obverse. This treatment is a feature of numerous denarii in the assemblage.

The remains of a heavily eroded copper alloy Roman coin, most probably an As of unknown 2nd century emperor. The surface of the coin has laminated and also been encased within iron panning. The identification is based on the style of bust - having a short cropped beard and curly hair - possibly suggesting the coin dates to the period of Marcus Aurelius.
