An incomplete and worn cast copper-alloy Medieval purse bar, probably dating to c. AD 1450-1500. The bar has a central square boss with surviving traces of niello inlaid incised lattice decoration on each of the outer faces. The boss has a central longitudinal perforation through which would have passed the now missing copper-alloy swivel loop. The remnants of the purse bar arms expand from the jaws of devolved zoomorphic mouldings either side. A complete copper alloy domed thimble of the Early Post Medieval period, dating from c. AD 1400 to c. AD 1600. The thimble is domed and tapers slight;y to the top. Although originally circular, has become flattened on three sides. A series of circular indentations have been applied around the sides in an irregular spiral from base to top. There is no tonsure. The thimble has been damaged and has a split on one side. The inside is plain and undecorated.
