An incomplete copper-alloy Iron Age brooch of the La Tène I Type, dating to c. 400-200 BC. The bow is oval in cross-section and tapers towards the missing head; in profile it is semi-circular. The front face of the bow has a median longitudinal low ridge, decorated with a dense series of transverse incised lines. The foot is formed by the upward curving of the tapering bow, which enlarges slightly touching the underside of the bow itself. At one edge of the foot there is the incomplete catch-plate. Cf. A fragment of a copper-alloy Roman mandolin-shaped spoon, dating to AD 200-400. It consists of the arched segment which connects the handle with the bowl with fragments of the bowl and handle as well. The surviving small fragment (3.43 mm long; 2.55 mm wide) of the handle is off set and continues with an arched extension, which joins the underside of the bowl. The initial part of the bowl that survives has two transverse raised lines on the front face, before tapering slightly to form the concavity of the spoon, although incomplete. An incomplete post medieval glass and copper alloy fob seal matrix in two parts. The handle has become detached from the seal matrix section. The handle is split into four arms, each with scrollwork moulding on its outer face and a circular suspension loop extends from its upper end. It is sub-rectangular in plan with slightly concave long sides. The terminal part of the front face is decorated with a raised moulding of three transverse ribs, which taper towards the end. It consists of the lower terminal end which joins a small fragment (19.85 mm wide; 11.98 mm long) of the rest of the brooch. The terminal is circular and flat; its front face is heavily abraded as well as the back face. The element joining the terminal has on its front face a median longitudinal ridge, now very worn. Description: Incomplete post-medieval gilded silver dress fastener cast in one piece. The plate has a central triangle outlined with a plain ridge and filled with a trefoil with a central pellet. At each corner of the triangle is a trefoil knop with a central pellet. Projecting from one edge is an integrally cast circular loop.
