A late Roman 4th century probably military copper-alloy 'propeller' mount or belt fitting. It comprises a central openwork circle D-shaped in cross-section, flat to the underside and measuring 11.6mm diameter with a 5.5mm diameter piercing. There is a D-sectioned arm to either side expanding from 5.4 x 2.8mm to 6.9 x 2.9mm with an in situ rivet at each end (measuring 1.8mm diameter and 3.6mm in length). The underside of the fitting is flat. It measures 55.3mm in length, 11.8mm in width, 3.7mm in thickness and weighs 6.69g.

The head is surviving only with one of the two forward folded wings; a fragment of the iron axis-bar is still in situ. An incomplete Roman copper alloy finger ring or (less likely) bracelet in the form of a snake. The item is shallowly plano-convex and terminates with a worn, snake head as seen from above. The features are worn, but the overall appearance is clearly Roman in style and finds many parallels in the literature. The shank tapers to the break; it is now bent over. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester Derivative hinged Type, dating to c. AD 43-120. The wings are cylindrical and still have the copper-alloy axis-bar to which the pin was hinged. The surviving pin consists of a very small fragment (2.11 mm long) projecting from the longitudinal slot on the back face of the wings. The bow is slightly curved in profile and has a D-shaped cross section tapering towards the break. The brooch is heavily dotted and abraded.
