A small fragment of a Roman copper-alloy and enamelled plate brooch (c. AD 100-c. AD 300). The surviving part of this brooch is flat and it may have been circular or oval in plan when complete. At the front there is an incomplete curving empty cell. At either side of the cell there is a fleck of blue enamel. The rear face has a pair of parallel pierced 'D'-shaped lugs (double-lugged) to accommodate an axis bar for the spring and pin mechanism. Each lug is incomplete. This brooch is green and corroded.
