A complete cast lead alloy late medieval pilgrim badge depicting Saint Giles, probably dating to c. AD 1200-1300. The badge consists of a rectangular plate with a sub-circular sewing loop projecting from each corner. A further large sub-circular projection at one short end accomodates the halo'd head of the saint, who is depicted standing, bearded and tonsured with his head within a beaded halo. A complete, copper-alloy rotary key dating to c.1150 - 1450 AD. The bow is circular in shape with a circular perforation. It extends to a hollow stem, which is rectangular in plan and sub-rectangular in cross-section. The bit tapers away from the stem making it wedge-shaped. It has two rectangular notches in it, creating a 'T'-shaped tooth. The key measures 36mm in length. The bow has a diameter of 13mm, the stem a width of 5mm and a thickness of 4mm, weight 5.45g.
