An unidentified object, probably post-medieval in date. Cast in a dense copper alloy, the object is incomplete and very battered, showing many indentations (these seem to be concentrated on one side).
There is a hollow stem or barrel, deformed and terminating in a break. 16.5 mm in diameter, 4.5 mm thick, There is a circumferential line, possibly machined, marking a very slight widening of this stem before it joins a sub-rectangular block which may have been a T-shaped handle - the original form is hard to determine due to the many dents and deformations. A Neolithic flint axehead, possibly an unfinished roughout, probably dating to c. 4000-2400 BC. The axe has a convex curved blade which is the widest point, from this it tapers evenly in width to the rounded butt. The axe is pointed oval in cross section across the width and broadly so along the length wih the thickest point slghtly closer to the blade than the butt.
