Silver coin. Short cross cut halfpenny of John (1199-1216), possibly class 5b2 issue of 1205-1207. According to Wren (2006) and this reporter's reading, the moneyer could only be Clement [class I at Winchester], but the other features of the coin suggest a later issue than his. Possibly London mint.
Obverse description: Facing bust with sceptre left, hair probably of two neat curls to either side.
Obverse inscription: hENRIC(---)
Reverse description: Voided short cross, quatrefoil in each angle. Initial cross pattee.

Obverse (for type):- Crowned head of henry facing outwards, legend around '[hEN]RICVS RE[X III]'
Reverse:- A long cross with three pellets in each crutch, beaded border separapting quarterd legend '[...]/ONC/ANT'
