A cast, copper alloy nail, probably of later post - Medieval date AD 1500 - 1850. The nail is rectangular in plan, tapering to a blunt, chisel point. The head has been broken off in an old break. It measures 56.24mm in length, is 8.13mm thick and weighs 23.9g. This type of nail is described elsewhere on the database as a "boat nail or spike for wedging into wooden planks to hold the hull of the boat together". Object type: STAMP
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A cast, lead alloy stamp of uncertain date, probably post-Medieval AD 1600-1800. The object is a rectangular cuboid in shape, measuring 22.61mm in length, 16.78mm in width, of 10.04mm thickness and weighing 2.2g. At one end, there is an illegible letter or design outlined with a sub-rectangular rim. Around the outside edge of the object, at the same end as the design, there is a 1.78mm line, whether for decoration or grip is unsure. This is potentially a personal stamp or seal but, as the design is very abraded, it is impossible to identify further.

Object type: MOUNT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A large, stamped copper-alloy plate mount, probably post-medieval AD 1600-1800. The mount is heart/leaf shaped with a leaf pattern decoration which was originally convex but is now buckled in its lower half. There is an old break at what was possibly the attachment loop or bar at the top. A further old break runs along the lower edge of the decoration. The mount measures 86.97mm in length, 88.42mm wide and 1.74mm thick; it weighs 37.2g. The mount, whilst large, is not particularly robust so may have been intended for furniture or similar rather than a horse harness.
