A fragment of an early early-medieval gilded copper alloy brooch or mount, dating to c. 500-650. Of probably original circular form, all that remains of the object is a central boss and part of the external edge. There is no trace of a fixing mechanism to the reverse, which has a rough surface but is otherwise flat. All breaks are old. To the front of the object there is a raised concentric rib around the boss. Between this and the edge of the object is a raised interlace design, perhaps zoomorphic in context. A fragment of a Roman cast copper alloy brooch, probably Hod Hill type, dating to 1st century AD. The item consists of the upper part of the bow . It is 24.50mm in length, 8.61mm in width and weighs 1.85g. Fragment of copper alloy spur, part of D-sectioned side with heart-shaped terminal (width 12.5mm) with twin perforations. The side has an incised median groove and pecked and stamped decoration, and is separated from the terminal by a transverse grooved moulding. Extant length 55mm. An incomplete cast middle to late Iron Age brooch, early 4th-2nd century BC. Description: The brooch is incomplete, and the spring and pin are entirely missing. The head comprises a vertically aligned flat sided pierced knop through which the axis bar would have passed. Fragment of a cast copper alloy harness pendant from Roman military equipment, irregular break where upper part missing, surviving lower part of pointed leaf-shape with a longitudinal central groove tapering to a knopped oval terminal projecting forwards from base. On the reverse, just above the knop is an integrally cast circular-sectioned attachment lug. Body and knop hollowed on reverse. Extant height 26mm. Extant width 24mm. Cf. A fragment of a late Bronze Age socketed axe dating to perhaps c. BC 1000 - 800. It consists of the side loop, a small section of the axe itself and a short section of the collar of the socket. A casting ridge is visible over the collar and along the length of the loop. It is 33.22mm in length (from the top of the collar to the lower end of the loop, at which point the rest of the axe has broken away) and 26.58mm in width (two broken edges either side of the loop).The loop itself is 18.82mm in length, 6.55mm in width, with an oval opening (6.36mm x 4.04mm). It weighs 20.97g.
