A complete cast lead uniface token probably of Post-Medieval date dating to the period of circa 1500-1900. The object is broadly circular. It has an 8 armed cross, with a pellet in the top half of each segment. The other side of the object is badly worn but contains a central setting which has broken in half. The pattern on this token seems to combine Powell types 3 and 14 but matches Fletcher type 10 (2005: 105). Fletcher notes that line and pellets designs on tokens were probably inflenced by base silver farthings issued in the Tudor period. Diameter: 33.8mm; Thickness: 5.…

A worn crudely cast lead-alloy uniface token of the Late Medieval to Early Modern period, dating to AD1400 - AD 1850. Description: The token is roughly circular and uniface (with decoration on one side). The decoration consists of an 8 spoked wheel with the spokes poking out past the rim. A worn, abraded and warped probable post-Medieval cast lead or lead-alloy circular biface token (c. 1500-c. 1850). Description: The token is relatiely small with a stylised outline of a human head on one side and the ligated letters 'HC' on the other. Measurements: 13.21mm in diameter, 1.71mm thick and 1.22g in weight. Discussion: Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely.
