Medieval to Post Medieval (c. 1100 until c. 1850) cooking vessel fragment: The fragment is sub semi-circular in plan which is thickened and an integral sub-rectangular, narrowed block at the lower edge. The lower portion has fine horizontal striations on the exterior and a smooth concave interior. The breaks are not recent. In the centre of the upper portion there is an elongated drop-shaped hole in the centre. This hole is where the handle or chain would be suspended from and the upper edge is worn. A complete copper-alloy right-angled drop handle from a vessel, of Medieval dating circa AD 1270 -1350. The handle is complete consisting of a hexagonal shaped shaft in cross section. Extending from either end of the shaft at a right angle are two vertical arms which terminate with animal, possible dog headed terminals. The arms are also hexagonal in cross section. There are acorn knops placed at the top corners of the shaft where they join the arms. At the centre of the horizontal shaft is a rounded swelling.
