Fragment of Early Saxon copper alloy brooch, Cruciform or possible Small-long, broken rectangular headplate with raised panel, broken faceted bow, at the top of which is a narrow rectangular panel forming the facets. On the reverse there is a single pin lug broken across the perforation. Ancient breaks. Extant length 30mm. Extant width 23.5mm. Weighs 6.13g. c.480 - c.530.

Early Saxon copper alloy cruciform brooch, comprising full-round waisted top knob, small head-plate with chamfered sides and traces of a possible binding or textile in corrosion on the face, sides and reverse, where it lies above a single pin lug with a (probably secondary and possibly re-used Roman) sprung copper alloy pin corroded onto one side. The axis bar and almost all of the spring are missing, but the full length of the pin survives in a closed position with its point contained within the catchplate, which has the remains of a transverse lines at the lower end and mid-point.
